Manchester United to play friendly in Dhaka on Mujib Year
English Premier League’s giant club Manchester United will play a friendly match in Dhaka to add a sensation in Mujib Year celebration. The government is preparing to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman next year, declared as ‘Mujib Year’.
On the occasion, various programmes like sports, culture and entertainment will be held in educational institutions throughout the year of 2020 and those will continue until March 26, 2021 -- the golden jubilee year of the country's independence. As a part of this mega celebration, Manchester United will come in June 2020. The other team of the friendly is yet to be settled.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Jahid Ahsan Russel MP said, “According to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), a delegation of Manchester United will visit Dhaka within several days to settle the auxiliary issues of the match.”
The team is also likely to play a friendly match against Bangladesh national football team during their visit, the minister added.
BFF general Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said, “A four-member team of Manchester United will come to Dhaka on Tuesday. They will monitor the venue, hotel and communications system during their one-day visit.”
It will take time to announce the date and the rival team of the match. The agents are trying to convince more giant clubs of Europe like Juventus and PSG.
