The Daybreak al-Falaq ( الفلق )

»The surah that opens with the mention of God as the Lord of The Daybreak
and that teaches one to seek refuge in Him from the evil in creation
and from all who envy the blessings of God in others. It takes its name
from “the daybreak” (al-falaq) mentioned in
. The surah is used as an invocation against evil.«

بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
1
قُل أَعوذُ بِرَبِّ الفَلَقِ
Transliteration
qul ʾaʿūdhu bi-rabbi l-falaqi
Translation
Say, ‘I seek the protection of the Lord of the daybreak
2
مِن شَرِّ ما خَلَقَ
Transliteration
min sharri mā khalaqa
Translation
from the evil of what He has created,
3
وَمِن شَرِّ غاسِقٍ إِذا وَقَبَ
Transliteration
wa-min sharri ghāsiqin ʾidhā waqaba
Translation
and from the evil of the dark night when it settles,
4
وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفّاثاتِ فِي العُقَدِ
Transliteration
wa-min sharri n-naffāthāti fī l-ʿuqadi
Translation
and from the evil of the witches who blow on knots,
5
وَمِن شَرِّ حاسِدٍ إِذا حَسَدَ
Transliteration
wa-min sharri ḥāsidin ʾidhā ḥasada
Translation
and from the evil of the envious one when he envies.’
