Bus service resumes on different routes from Khulna after 4-day strike
Bus services started on various long routes in Khulna on Friday morning four days after the suspension of strike enforced by the transport workers demanding amendment of the road transport law. Nurul Islam Nobi, president of Khulna Motor Workers Union informed that the vehicular movement on 17 routes from Khulna city to other districts started following a meeting that took place on Thursday.
Sources said the bus operation on a route to Kushtia from the city still remains suspended. Ignoring a request made by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader to refrain from calling strike centring the Road Transport Act-2018, transport owners and workers called an indefinite strike on Monday.
Besides, Bangladesh Truck, Covered-van Goods Transport Owners-Workers Unity Council observed work abstention on Wednesday to press home their demands, including changes to the act.
