Bangladesh Bank officer, two daughters die in road accident in Chattogram

Three people, including a Bangladesh bank official and his two daughters, died on Saturday after a covered van crushed their vehicle at Sitakundu on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. The deceased were identified as Bangladesh Bank Joint Director Saifuzzaman Mantu, his daughters Tasfia (14) and Tasrin(12).
Other members of the same family were also injured in the accident. They are: wife of the bank officer Kanik Akhter (35), and 10-year-old son Monty. According to police, they were returning to Dhaka from Bandarban.
Eyewitnesses said a covered van hit their private car at Fouzdarhat Bandar Road Intersection on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at 8:00am, leaving two daughters dead on the spot and three others injured.
Later, locals rescued the injured and taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where Saifuzzaman succumbed to his injuries at around 11:30am, sub-inspector of Baro Awalia Highway Police Station Kawsar said.
