‘Bangladesh look confident even without Shakib, Tamim’

Bangladesh went one up in the three-match T20I series when the Tigers registered their first ever victory -- a seven-wicket win -- in the format against India at the Arun Jaitely Stadium on Sunday.
However, India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said that even though Bangladesh are missing the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal on the tour, the Tigers are still a decent side that can cause trouble.
“Bangladesh are a very decent team even in their absence. All of them are experienced, even their new leg-spinner (Aminul Islam) bowled well. We are not seeing Bangladesh as a weak team just because Shakib and Tamim are not there. They are a good team and are giving us a good fight.
“Last time when I played against them in the Nidahas Trophy, both the teams were same. They are just missing two key players but even with the new set of players who have played one or two matches, Bangladesh look confident.” said Chahal during a press conference in Rajkot today.
Chahal also mentioned that it is not something new for India to bounce back after losing the first game in a series.
“We are positive. It is not the case that we have never lost in the first game of a series previously and have not gone on to win the series. We have forgotten that, we all are positive. If you dwell too much on the last game then a lot of negative things will come out. But we are ready for a fresh start.
“We should appreciate Bangladesh. They played very well (at Delhi). We know we are (supposed to be) a better team but if you see last few matches, Bangladesh have put up proper fight. Mushfiqur (Rahim) calculated the target very well. But it is not about pressure; it is a three-match series. We are one down with two more matches to go and we believe in ourselves to bounce back.” concluded Chahal.
Bangladesh will be facing India in the second match of the series on November 7 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
